As someone who was 15 in 1968, and with all due reverence to the civil rights struggles and other historical events that occurred earlier in the 60s, I don't think 68 was the end at all but rather an upheaval that had its roots in prior history and which deepened and expanded over the next few years. Let's not forget Kent State, the victory of the Vietnamese people, Watergate etc.
